Our Herbal Extracts

The Life Potion Specializes in Organic, Medicinal, Herbal Extracts, Loose Leaf Teas and Herbal Tea Baths. All our Herbal Extracts and Tinctures are handcrafted using time honored recipes and Certified, Organic Alcohol. Our botanicals are lovingly tinctured in glass jars and stirred daily by hand to ensure they're of the highest quality.

All our Tinctures are sold in 1(one) fluid ounce Glass, Amber Dropper Bottles.

Since only Certified, Organic Alcohol is used in making our Herbal Tinctures, this option certainly has its advantages. The Organic Alcohol is a good solvent, meaning it extracts most of the medicinal constituents within an herb.

It also works great as a preservative. Preservation is key when making Herbal Extracts.

Alcohol tends to inactivate any enzyme that threatens to alter extracts over time. Likewise, it’s helpful in controlling chemical decomposition ,so shelf life for our Herbal Extracts can be up to 5 years or more!

How To Use

The best way to consume a Liquid Herbal, Extract, is under the tongue, then swallow, or in a small amount of water or a sugar free beverage of your choice. Though not essential, you’ll get the most out of the extract if taken on an empty stomach.

*Shake well and store in a cool dark place. Keep out of reach of children!

{If you are opposed to any use of alcohol, add the extract to a cup of hot water and let sit for a few hours . The alcohol will evaporate within that time, leaving the Herbal Extract for you to drink.}You may also follow the guide below for reference.

Step 1: Pour the herbal tincture into a glass jar. Do not use a metallic jug.

Step 2: Put the jar in a saucepan with cold water.

Step 3: Bring the water to boil.

Step 4: Watch it closely until the water starts boiling.

Step 5: Once boiling point is reached, turn off the heat immediately.

Step 6: Take the saucepan off the burner but leave the jar in hot water. Keep the herbs inside the jar.

Step 7: Leave the setup (without a lid) for a few hours. Being uncovered allows the alcohol to evaporate.

Step 8: Evaporation takes time to complete. In most cases, the setup is left alone for up to 24 hours. You may want to repeat the process from step 2 because the target is to reduce the initial tincture volume by one third.

Step 9: Once your target is achieved. Pour the tincture into a storage bottle. You can top it up with some honey to fill the container. Adding honey creates a syrup that tastes better and has additional health benefits (if raw and locally sourced).

Step 10: The resulting tincture should be used according to the dosage instructions of the initial label. You can store it in the fridge. This storage method is a better preservative approach.
